Increase Engagement With AI Feedback Loops!

Dec 30, 2024

Are you tired of grading low-effort assignments from students who seem checked out?

If you’ve tried everything and still have 30% of students who just won’t engage, you’re not alone.

But there is a new way forward.

AI-powered Feedback Loops are helping entrepreneurship professors reverse the disengagement spiral and get even struggling students excited to learn again.

Let’s explore how these loops work, why they matter, and how you can use them in your classroom this semester.

Why Disengaged Students Submit Low-Quality Work

It’s not that disengaged students are lazy, it’s that they feel disconnected.

Without feedback loops students turn in low quality work, get feedback slower, and are less engaged

When students don’t understand material or don’t see its relevance, they tend to:

  • Submit surface-level assignments
  • Earn lower grades
  • Become even less motivated

It’s a downward spiral and it’s frustrating for everyone.

But what if we could show students that learning can be accessible and that success is within their reach?

That’s the goal of ExEC’s new AI Feedback Loop tool.

AI Feedback Loops

With AI feedback loops, students get immediate feedback, their grade improves and they are more engaged

AI Feedback Loops give students real-time, personalized feedback so they can:

  • Learn concepts more deeply
  • Immediately see where to improve
  • Iterate and resubmit stronger answers
  • Build momentum and confidence

The process is simple, but the results are powerful, especially for students who typically fall behind early in the semester.

Instead of waiting days for professor feedback, students get instant guidance, increasing the likelihood they’ll re-engage with the material.

We’ve integrated AI directly into our ExEC curriculum so students get high-quality, personalized feedback to ensure the most engaging learning experience.

AI Feedback Loops In Action

Here’s an AI feedback loop for an exercise designed to teach students how big companies often start by solving problems for a small group of people.

The exercise begins by having students read about the origin of Airbnb. They then start engaging with the AI tool.

Step 1:

Ask students an open-ended question.

💡 These questions are intentionally open-ended, requiring more reflection than traditional multiple-choice questions.

Step 2:

Students submit their answers and get instant feedback on what they got right, and where they can improve:

💡 This is where engagement spikes.

Students don’t need to wait for your feedback to discover they didn’t understand a concept.

Instead, the AI feedback loop provides instant feedback and recommendations on how they can improve.

Students have the opportunity and incentive to re-engage with the material and teach themselves how to get full credit on the assignment.

Step 3:

Students improve their responses.

💡 Learning, confidence, and engagement increase!

Just like that, students achieve the learning objective — discovering that Airbnb didn’t start as a global enterprise, it started by solving a real problem for a small group of people.

But more important than what they learn, is how they learn it.

Instant feedback empowers students to teach themselves, increasing the quality of their work, their grades, and ultimately, their engagement.

The Result?

When we give students immediate feedback, it’s a win for them and for you.

AI feedback loops improve assignment quality, decrease grading time and increase learning
